15. Alex Maier

Events: 2-mile
Outlook: Maier finished his cross country career in Texas as one of the more dominant runners in recent memory, even if it only resulted in one Class 6A state title this past fall. The Oklahoma State University signee won two District 6A-6 titles, one more Region 6A-1 championship, and was a three-time All-American at Nike Cross Nationals--which included two top 10 finishes. But guess what? Maier's never competed indoors in Texas. His only indoor performance came last year at New Balance Nationals Indoor, where he finished seventh in the two-mile.
This weekend Maier check another box off of his career list, lining up for the 2-mile at Texas A & M. He went 9:07.10 at nationals last year in New York, but don't expect Maier to get too crazy here. Expect a fast time, but maybe not that fast. The Texas is capable of breaking 9 minutes by the end of the season.
