North Rockland's Solid First Showing
- - -
Point taken.
North Rockland (NY) High School's girls team was out to set the tone for its season at the Red Raider Run on Friday at Bear Mountain, and there's no doubt the squad did that, scoring a perfect 15 points, with junior Katelyn Tuohy pacing junior Haleigh Morales for a controlled effort as both produced sub-19 times at 3-miles.
Tuohy's pacing duties took her to a win in 18:43.90, while Morales was a close second in 18:53.90. Neither recorded times close to their PRs--which signaled that the team was using the effort as a workout--though each of their teammates ran well behind them, with junior Catherine Ruffino, sophomore Rachel Keller and sophomore Britney Pezzementi all following in succession.
It was a good sign that North Rockland could have what it takes to compete come November.
