Top 5 Moments At USATF Junior Nationals, Day 2

2. Noah Lyles No. 4 All-Time 10.14 100m To Win Round 1 Over Ryan Clark

Championship sprint finals between Noah Lyles of T.C. Williams, Va. and Ryan Clark of Banneker, Ga. are becoming as common as they are the fast.

Lyles won the latest match-up in the 100m finals on Friday afternoon - but it took all he had to do it, as the junior cruised to not only a huge personal best, but a 10.14 mark that will stand as No. 4 All-Time in prep history.

"Going through my drills, I knew what I had to do. I had to work on my power, come out the blocks and work on my transition and make sure it was a little longer to get my drive phase out," he said, "and then after that, I felt really good and in my mind, I was just telling myself, 'you're gonna win this, you're gonna win this, you're gonna win this.'"

Clark entered with the faster personal record than Lyles, 10.18 to 10.21, but the Virginian won their latest contest at New Balance in the 200m. Clark false started in the 100m at the Greensboro event.

The duo will race again in the 200m on Saturday. Also in the event is Michael Norman of Vista Murrieta, Calif., the No. 6 All-Time performer for 200m (20.3) and 400m (45.19).

"I want to race him! I know I've got Ryan, but I want to race him!"
