Saucony Flo50 Summer Training Blog: Dalton Hengst

Summer Training, Week 1: June 22nd to - June 28th

After New Balance Nationals in North Carolina, I didn't have much time for a break because I had to continue training to make sure I was in good shape to compete at the USA Track and Field World Youth Trials in Illinois.

Monday June 22nd - Since I live in Pennsylvania but go to school in Maryland, the summer gives me a chance to run my workouts with high quality runners in the area that I'm not able to train with during the school year. On this Monday, I planned to do a distance trail run with Brady wilt (a graduate of York suburban) but a storm came in. We decided to go after storm went through and run on the roads. We did 6 miles at 6:30 pace.

TuesdayJune 23rd - Solo 4 mile run (cut short due to soreness in calf)

Wednesday June 24th - off

Thursday June 25th- just to be safe with the calf took day off running again but did light weights, high reps and core strengthening

Friday June 26th - Planned to do an evening run on roads near my house but I was invited to go spend the night on a teammates boat out on the Chesapeake bay so I ran a quick 6 miles @6:30 pace. Then spent the night on boat with teammates Andrew Michelson, Lucas wright, and Mikey singer.

Saturday June 27th- Morning run with CC guys 4.5. Then later in afternoon back in PA, did final speed workout on the track to prepare for the trials.

3 - 400's at 66 seconds

4- 200's in 30 seconds
