Shakayla Lavender delivered standout performances at the VHSL Class 6 State Championships, securing victories in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 300mH on June 1.

Lavender clocked an impressive 13.66 seconds in the 100mH and set a new personal record of 42.59 seconds in the 300mH, showcasing her exceptional talent. Over the week, Shakayla Lavender claimed nearly 40-percent of the National Performer of the Week votes, earning her the Week 22 title.

This Week's Nominees:

Naylah Jones, Timber Creek Reg. HS (NJ): The Timber Creek senior secured victories in the 100m and the 200m at the NJSIAA Group Championships, securing wind-legal times of 11.23 and 23.29. Both times were new personal records for Jones, with her 100m performance moving her up to U.S. No. 3.

Lisa Raye, West Warwick High School (RI): Raye captured victories in both the 100m and 200m at the New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships, recording the fastest 200m time of the week with a wind-legal and U.S. No. 9 effort of 23.26.

Rachel Forsyth, Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI)This past weekend, Forsyth secured a win in the 800m at the MITCA Champions Festival with an impressive time of 2:03.87, which is now a U.S. No. 2 time.

Jessica Oji, Livingston HS (NJ)The New Jersey athlete delivered an impressive performance last week, throwing 51-6.5 in the shot put. This mark was just shy of her personal best of 51-10. She is currently ranked fifth in the nation in the shot put.

Dylan McElhinney, Hunter College Campus Schools (NY): McElhinney captured gold in both the 800m and 1,500m at the New York state championships. McElhinney scored a U.S. No. 9 effort of 2:06.07 in the 800m.
