The top athletes to watch out for at the Alabama State Indoor Championships will be two boys who not only are their state leaders, but also at the top of the national leaderboard.

Tennessee signee Ethan Edgeworth of Cold Springs is the fastest runner in the 1,600m as he clocked a 4:10 from the Last Chance #2 meet last weekend. Edgeworth leads the state by nearly six seconds at the distance.

Along with defending his 1,600m title at states, he will line up in the 800m and 3,200m.

Max Armstrong of Vestavia Hills will contest in the 400m and 800m at the CrossPlex in Birmingham. The Ole Miss recruit owns the fastest time in the country, holding a time of 1:52.

On the girls side, Hoover's Daisy Luna leads the state in the 400m as she went 55.97 back in December. She's been undefeated over five races in this sprint.

Lucy Benton holds a best of 2:12 in the 800m, which is an Alabama No. 1. The future Baylor Bear has consistently been running in the 2:13 range this season and out kicks the competition by nearly three seconds.
