The Preseason MileSplit50 Top 25 Boys Team Rankings

No. 7: Wayzata (MN)

- - -

Analysis: Wayzata is annually one of the top programs in the state of Minnesota, and also one of the biggest schools in the state with 3,500 students.

That means the Trojans typically have a benefit of riches in terms of roster size, and this fall the squad are the returning AAA champs, having scored just 57 points at the state meet last November at St. Olaf College.

Six of those runners return to this year's team, including rising junior Will Weber, who was the team's No. 2 last year. Depth will be valuable for Wayzata, which will consist of a strong senior lineup that will be heavy with experience.

Biggest Question: Can Weber develop into an elite talent?

Weber already is off to a good start to 2023. He finished second at the Maple Grove Crimson Twilight meet on Aug. 31 with a time of 15:44.5 to lead the Trojans, which scored 28 points and picked up a win over Minnetonka.

But to enter into the next level, he'll need to elevate his performance against the state's -- and nation's -- best. Look for Weber to make that push this fall.
