The reigning National Gatorade boys Player of Year for cross country earned his second win of the season, claiming a win at the Timpanogos XC Invitational over the weekend.
This was only the beginning, though.
Of what, you might ask? This fall, there's a vaunted team race brewing between the likes of Utah Class 6A contenders American Fork (UT) and Herriman (UT), both nationally ranked by MileSplit.
The incredibly tight battle between the two squads saw score even, with the Cavemen earning the loss on displacement down to the sixth-runner.
William Steadman (15:23.6) was the frontrunner in third for Herriman, the returning third-place finishers from NXN last year, and he put his team on his back and in a great position to take down the country's top team to open up the season.

Both squads will see plenty more of each other, though, as they're set to clash again at the Pre-State Invitational in Salt Lake City on September 13.
