The 2022-2023 season has come to an end and Millville's (NJ) Leah Howard went out with a bang.

Howard, the seventh-best javelin thrower in the country, competed in her final NJSIAA State Meet of Champions last week. The Texas Tech recruit and Franklin (NJ) graduate was able to launch a 159-4 toss to secure her first state title. Her performance was quite impressive as she won the title by roughly 20 feet.

Earlier this season, she set a new personal best of 163-1.

During the week, she won the National Girls Performer Of The Week poll powered by TrackBarn by 1 percent over the Ohio standout Camden Bentley. Howard earned 48 percent of the votes to win the final National Performer Of The Week poll of the year.

This will be our final National Performer Of The Week recognition of the outdoor season. Our awards will resume during the cross country season.

If you've been selected as National Girls Performer Of The Week throughout the course of the season, if you haven't already done so, please send your mailing address to olivia.ekpone@flosports.tv to receive your backpack courtesy of TrackBarn.
