Just how far have the nation's top cross country girls athletes progressed over four years in the sport? 

We have the data. 

Below, we've compiled a list that displays how far the best distance runners have improved since their freshman seasons in 2019 until now. That, of course, includes the COVID year of 2020.

At the top of the list we see Morgantown's Irene Riggs

As you can see, the future Stanford star has routinely chopped off time year-over-year, in full taking over 80 seconds off her freshman best time.

That's significant progression. 

But she's not the only one. From Ava Bushaw to Emma Stutzman over to Katie Clute, the country's top girls distance runners have all crafted meaningful developments over their careers.
