National Girls Performer Of The Week (9/26-10/2)

One of the top-ranked athletes from New York debuted her cross country season at the Ocean State XC invitational.

Karrie Baloga, the Cornwall (NY) senior and the Univesity of Colorado commit, showcased her strength with a clocked 17:07 5K in Rhode Island. It was a solid victory as she crossed the finish line over 60-seconds faster than the rest of the field.

Her performance equaled a 151 speed rating while she ran the second-fastest 5K performance by a New Yorker on the Goddard Park course.

Throughout the week, Baloga earned 54-percent of the votes to be named this week's National Girls Performer Of the Week. 

Let's move on to week five of the cross country season National Girls Performer of the Week poll.  

We will recognize a winner every week in this poll, with nominations handed out on Monday. The poll will end on Friday and winners will be announced the following Monday.

Here are the nominations for the third National Girls Performer Of The Week Poll:

Kate Putman, Cicero-North Syracuse (NY): At the McQuaid Invitational, Putman grabbed her second victory of the season with a three-mile personal best of 16:46.20.

Brooke Wilson, Valor Christian (CO): In her season debut, Wilson was the only girl to break 17 minutes for 5K at the Desert Twilight XC Festival with her 16:57.8 performance. The senior earned a 151 speed rating. 

Madison Peters, Pearland (TX): The junior faced a handful of athletes on the MileSplit50 rankings and the honorable mention at the Nike South Regional. She executed a victory with a 17:06 5K to earn a 145 speed rating. 

Ciara O'Shea, Madison Central (KY): O'Shea dominated the competiton at the Nike Town Twilight meet where she crossed the finish line 30-seconds ahead of the rest of the field. She won the 5K title in 16:52 and earned a 154 speed rating along the way. 

Jillian Candelino, Bolles (FL): At the Alexander/Ascis Invitational, Candelino put together race to win the meet in 17:16. This was a new personal best and her second sub-18 minute performance this season.
