Carroll Girls Dominate, Madison Peters Reveals Herself As A Front-Runner
- - -
This much was expected at the Southlake Carroll XC Invitational on Saturday: The Carroll girls were set to dominate.
On Saturday, the Dragons -- an honorable mention MileSplit50 team to begin the season -- scored 37 points, obliterating the next closest competitor by 147 points -- Colleyville Heritage scored 184.
But how about the overall winner?
This much we also learned: Madison Peters is a state championship contender in Texas.
The Pearland junior, who didn't even qualify for the Texas state championships in 2021, walked away with the overall title with a time of 17:00.76, which is a 49-second PR from a season ago.
Peters did run well at the meet in 2021, finishing seventh overall in 17:57. But perhaps injury limited her down the stretch. Her last race was at Districts.
Maybe a full run in 2022 will serve Peters well. Through three meets, she's a perfect 3-for-3 in the win column.
