One of the more pleasant surprises of the last few years has been the rise of the Wake Forest men on the cross country course and in the distance events.

Last fall, the Demon Deacons placed 10th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, had multiple national-caliber distance stars on the track, developed a strong corps of young talents and brought in an outstanding recruiting class.

They could have rested on their laurels. But in July, the men's program scored one of its best American-born distance recruits in recent memory. 

North Carolina native Rocky Hansen, an incoming senior at Christ School in Arden, is an incredibly promising talent who makes an already-bright future at Wake Forest look even brighter.
