As Hanne Thomsen considered her college options, she kept an open mind.

There were no shortage of suitors for Thomsen, MileSplit's No. 14 girls recruit in the Class of 2025. With so many choices, Thomsen just wanted to explore what the programs had to offer.

After much thought, Thomsen recently committed to Stanford University, selecting the school over Oregon, North Carolina State, Colorado and Washington.

Thomsen, a star distance runner at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, California, lives about two hours from Stanford, which was a selling point because she won't be too far from home.

She was also drawn to the school's strong distance program, its exceptional academics and meeting several of the program's team members and coach J.J. Clark.
