Samantha McDonnell made history last weekend at the CIF Southern Section Division I prelims.
The Newbury Park (CA) senior and Alabama signee became the first girl in California history, dating back to 1973, to qualify in three distance events for the CIF Southern Section Division Finals. She won the 800m in 2:10.27 and the 3,200m with a personal best of 10:28.91. She also earned the silver in the 1,600m with a 4:50.35.
Throughout the week McDonnell earned 46-percent of the votes to be named the National Girls Performer Of The Week.
