Shawnee Mission North (KS) sophomore Micah Blomker currently holds the fastest sophomore 5K time in the nation with his 14:57.00 from the Olathe Twilight Invitational, which is the fastest 5K ever recorded on Kansas soil.
He ran that time to take the win by almost 10 seconds. Blomker is the only underclassman in the nation who has run under 15 minutes for 5K. His 5K performance was speed rated at a 185.
In the only other race the sophomore has run this season, he finished second behind St. Thomas Aquinas High School (KS) senior Logan Seger. Seger ran 15:25.90 and Blomker was just behind in 15:27.60.
