Weekend Preview: The Top Five Meets To Watch Around The U.S.

INDEX:

PTXC 12.2

- - -

When: September 11

Where: The Farm Course -- Kutztown University

The famed PTXC cross country meet is back after a year off at Kutztown University's Farm Course, and there's a chance some records could go down.

In the girls race, Montgomery's (NJ) Caroline Mehlhorn enters having run the exact course record time of 17:48 last year at the RunningLane National Cross Country Championships.

Now, some disclaimers.

Huntsville's John Hunt Park runs fast. Kutztown's Farm Course generally does not. But nevertheless, we can dream, can't we? Any way you cut it, though, Mehlhorn enters as the favorite. She's the only seed entering the race under 18 minutes.

A host of others, nine in all, follow with times under 19 minutes. That will mean the team race will be spicy, and it will include some battles between Pennridge (PA), Hershey (PA), Warwick (PA) and others.

The boys race will feature a typical Maryland power, Severna Park, which has the potential to put down a fast average and a big win. They'll find competition against Central Bucks West (PA), Lewisburg (PA) and Exeter (PA).

Lewisburg's Jacob Hess enters with the fastest seed time of 15:34, while four others arguably have the resume to chase after him: Howard's Joseph Raudabaugh, Severna Park's James Glebocki, Cumberland Valley's Jordan Tiday and Northeastern's Cole Perry. All four have times under 16 minutes.

Course Records:

Boys: Colin Abert, Easton (PA), 15:21.37, 2014

Girls: Kennedy Weisner, Elk County Catholic (PA), 17:48.98, 2014
