Week 1 Preseason Training Blog: Kamiakin's Isaac Teeples

Isaac Teeples is the man to watch in Washington this cross country season. The Kamiakin (WA) High School junior developed into his team's No. 1 runner a year ago, helping the Braves qualify for Team Cross Country Nationals, where the Washington program finished 20th overall. While Teeples was the seventh non-senior across the finish line in 40th overall, he was just the second sophomore overall. Previous to the national championship (his second appearance overall), Teeples was fifth at Regionals and won his first WIAA Class 3A state cross country championship in November. He also produced a PR of 14:34.17 at leagues in October. With just a few returners back on Kamiakin's squad, Teeples will now be tasked with leading the Braves as a newly-minuted upperclassmen. Week 2 (August 24th - August 30th)

Monday, August 24:  Core + tempo built into longer run

Easy morning run with core and arms, followed by a light tempo on a longer run that evening.

Tuesday, August 25: Morning run + core + 16x 40 second repeats

Morning run with the usual post run workouts, and then another 16 x 40 second repeat -- I'm workout on getting further each time.

Wednesday, August 26: Long run + leg day + rolled out

Long run in the morning, along with a leg workout. Then I got the rest of the day off; I was super tired, so I stretches and rolled a lot.

Thursday, August 27: Morning run + core + tempo

Another morning run with the usual core workout, then that night we did a tempo workout. It wasn't super awesome, but I felt OK. We had a lot of guys show up and a lot of underclassmen that did good, so I was happy with them.

    Friday, August 28: Long run

Another easy long run in the morning. I was pretty sore from the night before, so it felt like forever but it wasn't bad and i still had a solid pace.

Saturday, August 29: Long run with built-in tempo (8 miles)

Went on a long run with a light tempo for 8 of the miles, then went to a swim workout afterwards for a pretty chill Saturday.

      Sunday, August 30: 6 miles

Finished up 6 miles at night to get my goal mileage for this week, and then took a long nap.
