In our latest in-depth race breakdown of the outdoor season, MileSplit's Olivia Ekpone breaks down the nation's fastest boys 100m of the 2020 season.
A fun note: It was also ran in the rain.
Da'Marcus Fleming of Miami Northwestern (FL) High School ran a wind-legal time of 10.33 seconds at the Louie Bing Memorial Classic in mid-February, with the senior opening up his season with a personal best despite the weather conditions.
Fleming put the pressure on from the start of the race and started to pull away from the rest of the field. Zacchaeus Byrd of American Heritage MS/HS (Plantation) (FL) finished second with a 10.84. Closely behind for third was Jordan Taylor of Miami Norland (FL) with a 10.86.
A few weeks later, Fleming ran a personal best of 20.75 (-0.2) at the GMAC Championships. You can't expect nothing less from the defending state champion in 100m and 200m.
