The 10 Best Unsigned Track And Field Recruits Remaining

NO. 21 RECRUIT - Jonah Ross, Garner (NC)

PRs:  55M: 7.01 -60M: 7.53 - 200M: 23.79 - 300M: 38.64 - 100M: 11.60 - 200M: 23.72

Ross, a sprinter for Garner HS (NC), hasn't said much about her recruiting process as of late. However, her consistency over 100m and 200m, as well as her developing promise in the longer sprints, makes her one to grab this recruiting season. Her brother, Randolph, recently chose North Carolina A & T -- where their father, Duane, coaches.

She began her national rise at the end of her sophomore year, when she won the Emerging Elite 100m -- she ran 11.60 for a US No. 18 effort -- and 200m at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. Those major wins acted as momentum into her junior campaign.

Ross' effort during the 2019 indoor season placed her in the nation's top 10 in the 200m (US No. 7) and 300m (US No. 5). She also ranked top 25 in the 55m (US No. 21) and top 30 in the 60m (US No. 29).

At New Balance Nationals, which seems as her stage of choice, Ross ran sub-24 for the first time indoors (23.79) -- it was the the 29th fastest high school effort of all-time. After that indoor effort, she ran sub-24 four addition times outdoors, each faster than her previous outdoor PR of 23.99. The senior went on to win her fourth NCHSAA 4A State Championship in 2019 and furthered her PR to 23.72 for top 40 in the country.

Since her 11.60 two years ago, Ross has stayed consistent in the 11.7s with over 10 efforts, seven of them in 2019. She ran a season best of 11.66 in the prelim leading to her first state championship in the event. ]

The senior is already off to a quick start in her final seasons. Ross opened up her indoor season with two top-10 performance in the 55m (7.10) and 300m (39.80) at the NCRunners Holiday Invitational.
