Caitlyn Bobb's Ascent Up The 400m Leaderboard Continues

- - -

It's one thing to win a big race in your own state.

It's quite another to go up against youth stars from other countries, in a rite of passage meet considered the predictor of future stars from the Caribbean.

Harford Technical (MD) High School's Caitlyn Bobb got her chance to shine on Saturday in her first appearance at the CARIFTA Games, held this year in Georgetown, Cayman Islands.

With dual citizenship from Bermuda, Bobb ran for the Caribbean nation's U17 team and won her preliminary and finals races, lowering her personal best time down to 53.69 seconds.

The 16-year-old is fast rising in the sport of track and field.

Williams Scores Big Time in 100: Northeast (FL) junior Briana Williams, the 17-year-old Jamaican teenager, cruised in the prelims, then dominated in the finals of the girls U20 Championship, scoring a time of 11.25 seconds (+0.3), which was nearly four-tenths faster than the next closest competitor. That is scary good. Next up is the 200 meter race. We'll focus more on Williams' performances after the CARIFTA Games are over.
