Who: Marlee Starliper
Bio: In a lot of ways, Starliper has a boxer's mentality: She's never going to say quit. The Northern High School junior has often put herself in positions where she simply goes for it -- with varying degrees of success. At last year's USA Junior Championships, perhaps those lofty expectations got the best of her in the 5K, but something seems different in 2019. Starliper has absolutely rocked individual outings in the 1-mile (4:41) and 3K (9:20.91) this indoor season. And she's skipping her indoor state championships in Pennsylvania to race against pros. So you can expect that once again Starliper will try to hold on for a big time. She would need to race faster than 10:02.86 to enter into the top 10 all-time in the 2-mile. Only five girls have broken 10 minutes in the 2-mile indoors all-time. Could that be the goal?
