300 -- KAYLA DAVIS

Women's 300m

Who: Kayla Davis

Bio: The youngest competitor at the USA Indoor Championships will be Davis. But the 15-year-old, who's a freshman at Providence Day School in Charlotte, certainly has the requisite chops to hang with the professionals. Her 37.92 second time, which ranks 17th all-time in the record books, ranks her fifth in this field of women. Winning a national senior title might be a tall order for the teenager, but with a host of women with professional racing experience and times that can challenge her, she might be in line for another PR and another all-time effort. Davis would need to run faster than 37.77 to enter the top 10 all-time in the 300m. Beyond that, if everything over the rounds spin her way, she would need to go faster than 36.82 seconds for the national record.
