Seven Most Shocking Moments of NXN And Foot Locker

American Fork Boys: Third At State, Second In The Nation

A team that finished just third at their state meet, fourth in their region and barely squeaked into NXN by virtue of an at-large bid finished just 49 points behind the overall team champion, Great Oak, in Portland. That the undefeated Casey Clinger won the individual title was not a stretch to imagine. But how the heck did his American Fork team get second place at NXN?

  • 1 point counts for a lot in team scoring and a whole lot more at a meet as stacked at NXN. Thanks, Casey!
  • Getting healthy: Clinger told us before NXN that the team only had three runners in good condition at State
  • McKay Johns returned to form: the junior placed 32nd at the Utah state meet, 18th at NXN SW (9th in team scoring), 31st at NXN (13th in team scoring)
  • Patrick Parker, 73rd overall/51st in team scoring at NXN SW, improves to 47th overall/18th in team scoring at NXN
