Saucony Flo50 US top 25 teams: #3 Timpanogos (4A), #4 Davis (5A), #12 Desert Hills (3A), #21 American Fork (5A)

You don't need our virtual meet projections to know that Timpanogos and Desert Hills are going to dominate their respective classes. The team battles of the day--in both the boys and girls races--are going to be between 5A national powerhouses Davis and American Fork. This is as good as it gets at the state level, as American Fork has qualified for NXN six years in a row and Davis has made it to Portland five of those six years.

AF is looking to win its seventh straight Utah title, but their rivals Davis seem poised to end the streak. The wildcard in this race is Fork's McKay Johns, who hasn't raced all fall but is one of the Cavemen's seven entries for tomorrow. American Fork was ranked #3 in the preseason Flo50 on the strength of preseason #22 individual McKay Johns. But that was before we knew that Johns was injured. If Johns is on form, the Utah state title holders might not evolve from Cavemen to Darts. If Johns isn't a low stick, Davis's depth could deliver its first state title since 2007. Without Johns, American Fork has struggled, losing to Lone Peak at regionals. Davis has only lost to Timpanogos and Great Oak this year, finishing within five points of both teams at Bob Firman.
