<span style="font-size: 14px;">The first ever MileSplit All-American Teams for this past 2014 outdoor track & field season are being released this week. The selection process included taking into consideration multiple factors but not limited to: season best performances and national rankings, consistency and body of work, finishes in major championship and post-season meets as well as a head-to-head results against other top national ranked competition in their event were all used to determine the top 8 individuals and relays to make up our All-American squads.</span></p>
Two of the three fastest ever to run the 1500 meter run in high school will represent the United States next week at the World Junior Championships in junior Alexa Efraimson from Washington and senior Elise Cranny from Colorado. The two finally had their highly anticipated first head-to-head race of the track season in the finals of the 1500 at the US Junior Nationals with Efraimson leading wire to wire virtualy with Cranny staying right on her hip. The order and distance stayed the same all the way to the finish with both earning spots on the World Junior team. Both Efraimson and Cranny ran their 1500 PR races against elite pro competition with Efraimson's 4:07.05 at the adidas Grand Prix and Cranny's 4:10.95 at the Payton Jordan Invite. Along with Nike pro runner and high school senior Mary Cain, the trio is leading a resurgence of high school girls distance running to levels never seen before at this depth of fast times being run nationally.
The following 8 individuals have been selected to the MileSplit All-American Team in the girls 1600/mile run from the 2014 outdoor season as they have been chosen by MileSplit as the 8 best national performers in their event from this past spring.
