As we can see, the girls top 10 4x400 teams are heavily dominated by Northeastern schools. That should make sense, considering some Southern and Western states do not have state high school indoor associations.

Top 10:

  • 1. Bullis (MD)
  • 2. Franklin (MD)
  • 3. Western Branch (VA)
  • 4. Neumann-Goretti (PA)
  • 5. Oak Park (MI)
  • 6. Maximum Output Track Club (MI)
  • 7. Paul Robeson (PA)
  • 8. Gahanna Lincoln (NY)
  • 9. Highland Springs (VA)
  • 10. Medgar Evers (NY)

Findings:

A. As opposed to what we saw in the boys field -- where going down in distance didn't always translate to success -- some of the top girls teams remain nearly unbeatable at the 300m distance. We have to start with Bullis, which is probably the top sprint program in the nation right now.

B. Western Branch has more depth overall, as evidence by its ability in the 300m, but Franklin is top-heavy with talent and its star talent, Njari McNeil, is just fourth-best at the 300m distance.
