The Scoop: Carmel's Suspenseful 1-Point Win Over FWC

Katelynne Hart Is Officially Back

- - -

The Glenbard West (IL) High School star set a new Richard Springs Invitational record on Saturday with a 3-mile time of 16:14.70, which is now fourth all-time on the Detweiller Park course. Hart also earned a very impressive 149 speed rating.

In winning Richard Spring, the junior also guided Glenbard West to a team title with 131 points.

Not a bad Saturday outing.

This is all coming after last week's opener of 16:35.66 at Lake Park, a solid if-not-underwhelming race from the Illinois junior.

While the time is still six seconds shy of her overall career best at 3-miles--the 16:08.70 she recorded at Lakes Park a year ago--it does mark an overall best at Detweiller Park following last year's state win on the course in November.

And it puts no question as to whether Hart needed to make up any ground this fall.

Currently No. 5 on the MileSplit50, Hart historically will take a few weeks off from racing before she gears back up for the Napervile Twilight Invitational in October.
