As the indoor track and field season approaches, we'll be taking a look at the top girls returners in each event in 2020. Today we're turning our attention to the throws.
Leading the way into the 2019-2020 indoor season for the girls shot put is Haddon Heights High School's (NJ) Cydney Thomas, who threw 46 feet, 1 inches last year to win the NJSIAA South Sectional Championships.
The leading girls weight throw athlete is Webster Thomas High School's (NY) Monique Hardy, who recently signed with Louisiana State University (LSU). She's the defending New Balance Nationals Indoor champion with a mark of 64-7.25 and defending NYSPHSAA -NY State Champ with a throw of 60-4.75.
She only lost a weight throw competition once during her junior year and it was a second-place finish behind Classical High School's (NY) Cheyenne Figueroa at the 112th NYRR Millrose Games.
