Livia's short Biography

Livia is my Princess. For those of you from N.C. State, she reminds me a little bit of Erin Swain…A Princess in the streets, but a beast on the track or course. Livia is really sweet and almost angelic…that is, until she gets on the track…She becomes another person. Sure, right up until the pistol is shot, she may be concerned with how she looks or something, but once that gun goes off, she steps into another world and is tough. She has had to deal with a lot of problems the past couple of months with her health and has had to struggle through training a little bit in recent times. There were two ways she could have taken these circumstances…feel defeated, or stand up and keep going. She is resilient and she is not giving up, but is trying to stay patient to get back into shape.
Livia Sarah Burri started to run in 1997 when she was 10 years old. As a young girl, Livia always enjoyed going to road races, but didn't really train much. She attended a road race for women in Bern and ended up running really well there. Her school teacher, who was an athletics coach, saw the results in the newspaper and would take her to his training with him and that is how she got into track & field. Her coach had her doing shot-put, javelin, long jump, and sprints. After a few years, Livia wanted to focus on just running so she searched for a coach. FritzBoss decided to work with Livia. As FritzBoss was already Astrid's coach, the Thuner Duo was born!
After a few years, Livia had a lot of successes in running. As a junior, she was the Swiss Champion in the 1500 one time, in the 3000 two times, and the 5000 two times. She also qualified herself for the European Championships in the 5k (with Astrid) as a junior.
Livia continues her success in distance running today. Just this year, she qualified for the European Championships in cross country! Livia is looking to improve herself as a distance runner and continue on her road to success.
Livia's short-term goal is to get back into shape, as she has had some difficulties with her health the last couple of months. She is motivated to train with her Thuner-Trio and to get back into swing of things again.

Josi's Journal
Today we took it easy. It was really awesome to run in a group again. Astrid and I are used to either training together, alone, or with our Thuner-Trio when Livia comes to Thun… One thing we all love about training camp is that we have more training partners! Monique and Vivianne are here for long distance running and we are really enjoying their company and training with them. They make great training partners and the Thuner-Trio is pumped to work out with the cool gals!
Princess' Palace…Livia
Beautiful weather, good food, nice people and especially three wonderful girlfriends like Vivi, Asi and Josi are all a good start for our training camp. Run in a new environment and with the group is really motivating. The only negative point is my heel is hurting. I just have to stay positive that it will improve with patience and the help from the physio team.

Josi's Journal
Today's workout was supposed to be a super easy, conversational workout since we have a "double workout" today and then again tomorrow. Fritz said if he heard me talking, which he did, then we did it right. It felt easy and it was nice to work out with the girls. We had to take it easy because we have to run a HARD 2 times 2,000 tomorrow followed by 5 times 200 fast. I am really motivated and am excited for the rest of my workouts and then to my track season…which hasn't started yet!!! Crazy realignment of the seasons here! I am feeling decent and feel like I am getting into shape slowly but surely. I am of course nowhere close to where I would like to be, but I am on the right track again. There are a few times where I slip off of the right track, some due to conditions that I can't control like colds, but it feels good to feel the work kicking in…finally. One step at a time, one step at a time and patience…
Princess' Palace…Livia
This morning I had my first workout on the track for a long time. Like always, it was a good feeling to run on the track, my favorite surface. The trainings on the track always tell you the truth, even if the results aren't always good. It's difficult to see that your form is far away from where you would like it to be. It is the first time I have gotten into such a hole and I have to learn to stay patient and especially to think positive. " There are no short cuts in distance running." Josi
In the afternoon the Thuner-Quartet went on an easy, funny jog in the forest. We couldn't run right because we were laughing so hard. Thank you Asi! hahaha
