PENN RELAYS PART TWO

Union Catholic's girls won the DMR Championship of America in 11:24.26 - breaking their own meet record of 11:24.53 from last year - with Kayla Devine, Sydney Chadwick, Abbey Robisky, and Paige Sheppard. Chadwick split the fastest 400 of the race at 54.80. Robisky blew it open with a 2:09.15 800 leg. Sheppard closed in 4:42.14. Three different runners from last year's lineup. Same result. This is their fourth straight wheel at Penn. The UC girls now own the DMR outdoor national record, the Penn Relays DMR record, the national indoor DMR record, both national 4x800 records, and the outdoor national SMR record. The question at this point is not what they can win. It is what is left.

The UC boys won the 4x800 Championship of America on Saturday in 7:41.14 over IMG's 7:42.71 - completing a boys and girls double at Penn for Union Catholic, the first NJ program to do it since Plainfield swept the 4x400 in 1981. Ciaran Brosnan anchored with IMG's Hayden Bearden on his heels the entire final leg, then hit the top of the straight and was gone. Elijah McCoy, Quintin Clemons, and Keandre Kelly completed the lineup. UC and IMG have raced three times this season. UC has won every time.

4X800M RELAY CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Abigail Hennessy of Massachusetts ran 4:38.13 to win the girls mile Championship of America. Ryan Buskey jumped 7-0.25 to win the boys high jump - a UGA commit who has been one of the best jumpers in the country all season. Hannah Nuhfer of Delsea dominated the girls discus with a final-round heave of 177-0, winning by more than 16 feet after finishing ninth at this same meet a year ago. UC's boys 4x400 squad of freshman Elijah Jones, junior Shahid Stevens, junior Jalele Williams, and sophomore Tolu Ogunnaike ran 3:15.98 - 11th fastest among more than 500 teams, just two spots outside the COA field.
