THE SEASON IS HEATING UP EVEN MORE
The 2026 Diamond League opened on Saturday in China. Armand Duplantis cleared 6.12m to break his own meet record. Shericka Jackson won the women's 200m in 22.07 against a field that included Sha'Carri Richardson and Shaunae Miller-Uibo. Gift Leotlela stunned a star-studded men's 100m field with a 9.97 win. No Olympics or World Championships this year, SO the Diamond League carries extra weight.
High school track and field answered with one of its biggest weeks of the season. Texas ran its UIL state championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Georgia, North Carolina, New Jersey, Colorado, Idaho, among more all had major moments. Luke Surface, an 8th grader from North Carolina, broke the national 3200m record. Melanie Doggett, a freshman from Georgia, won a state championship and broke a world age record in the same race. Hannah Nuhfer finally got the New Jersey discus record she had been chasing all season. Let's dive into just some of the action.
