Breanne Barnett Takes Over the 400m

The girls 400m national lead changed hands this week at the Armory Hispanic Games, where Breanne Barnett delivered a statement performance. The Baldwin senior and University of Virginia commit clocked 54.40, establishing a new US No. 1 and setting an indoor personal best in the process.

Barnett's run continues a steady progression across multiple distances this season. She owns personal bests of 23.66 in the 200m and 54.20 400m, alongside strong indoor marks of 37.74 in the 300m and 7.16 in the 55m.

BARNETT WINS

The national leaderboard remains tight behind her. Jane Hickey followed closely at the same meet, running 54.86 to sit second in the country, while Maddison Brister-Wesley rounds out the top three at 54.93. The trio currently stands as the only athletes nationwide to dip under 55 seconds indoors, setting up a competitive stretch run toward championship season.
