The calendar says mid-February. The performances say something else entirely.
This past week, the sport felt restless. Young athletes raced up in age and won. National lists reshuffled. State titles came with historic times attached. The margin between "developing" and "elite" continued to disappear.
Momentum is building, and it is building fast. Every weekend feels sharper than the last. Every meet feels heavier.
February 9 through 15 was not quiet. It was defining.
And if this is the build-up, we are in for something special in the next few weeks.
