Brooks XC Championships West Boys & Girls Preview

The inaugural Brooks XC Championships, presented by Fleet Feet, continue the tradition of the former XC West Regional Championships this Saturday on the Mt. SAC XC course.

This meet's history has hosted future Olympians such as Galen Rupp, Deena Kastor, Lopez Lomong, and Meb Keflezighi as a launchpad for competing at the XC National Championships. It will do the same for many this year, with hopes of winning it all at Balboa Park in San Diego, CA, on December 13th.

Athletes from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming will compete in the Championship Races to earn their spot in San Diego. The top 10 boys and girls finishers in each race will advance to the Brooks XC Championships.

This year's field is a bit more open, with TEN West athletes already earning Fleet Feet Golden Tickets, which earns them an automatic spot in the Brooks XC Championships.

Jackson Spencer (UT), Yohanes Van Meerten (AZ), and Conor Lott (CA) are the three West boys who've been selected. Spencer and Van Meeten are the number one and two ranked runners in our West 5K rankings.

Chiara Dailey (CA), Lily Alder (UT), Sophia Rodriguez (WA), Ellery Lincoln (OR), and Gianna Rahmer (NM) were announced as recipients earlier this season. Summer Wilson (CA) and Jaelyn Williams (CA) were recently announced as Golden Ticket winners after their all-time performances at the CIF State XC Championships.

Even with those top names already qualified, both fields remain loaded with talent hungry for their shot at nationals.
