New World Fall Spectacular | Cecil Field Golf Course, Jacksonville, FL
In the boys' elite 5K at the New World Fall Spectacular, Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit made history with a 14:33 performance, setting a new Florida all-time cross country record. The junior took control immediately, chasing down Rheinhardt Harrison's 2021 course record of 14:45. The field was exceptionally strong, with 53 runners finishing under 16 minutes.
High School Boys' 5k Elite
In the team standings, IMG Academy claimed the boys' title with 90 points, despite missing top runner Matthew Dodds due to injury. Belen Jesuit, Nease, and Spanish River completed the top four.
The girls' elite 5K saw freshman Annabella Tomasic of Bishop Moore assert herself from the start, to finish in 17:25 even while managing shin splint issues in the weeks leading up to the race. Jazlyn Forbes of Oasis took second in 17:35, with Natalia Gaona-Zelaya of Wiregrass Ranch and Mary Summers of Seven Rivers Christian finishing close behind in 17:37.
IMG Academy continued to dominate on the girls' side, earning the team title with 53 points. Senior Danielle Graham and sophomore Sydney Johnson led the way for the Mariners. Bishop Kenny placed second with 125 points, followed by the Episcopal School of Jacksonville in third at 164, rounding out a highly competitive field that included the state's top ten programs.
