Track-Ish, hosted by Joshua Potts, is back on MileSplit to showcase the personalities of our top high school cross country runners. In every show, Joshua Potts dives into what makes these athletes great, allowing them space to be themselves on the national stage -- but this week is different. Instead of a rising star, Joshua welcomes Garrett Heath, Brooks' head of sports marketing and former professional runner.
Heath joins the show fresh off Brooks announcing the Brooks XC Championships presented by Fleet Feet, set for December 13, a response to the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships ending its 45-year run this August. Less than 10 days after that announcement, Brooks teamed up with Fleet Feet and Sound Running to launch a new era of high school nationals.
In this episode, Heath gives a behind-the-scenes look at how the event came together, Brooks' vision for the championship, and how it will differ from the Foot Locker's storied meet.
For even more insight on the new Brooks XC Championships presented by Fleet Feet, check out FloTrack's recent interview with Sound Running Founder Jesse Williams on The Meet Up.
