The final weekend of March racing saw a slew of huge meets across the country, from the FSU Relays in Tallahassee to the Texas Relays in Austin, all providing the perfect conditions for high-caliber performances.
The National Performer of the Week poll will close at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 3, and the winner will be announced shortly after.
Take a look at five of the top-performing girls from last weekend in outdoor track & field.
This Week's Nominees:
Rylee Blade, Santiago Corona (Calif.): On the heels of a historic indoor campaign, the future Florida State Seminole made a statement in the HOKA Girls 3200m at The TEN High School Invitational. Blade took the lead early and never looked back, running 10:00.56 as she gapped the field by 26 seconds. Blade soared to the top of the national leaderboard after her big-time run, now sitting five seconds ahead of the next fastest competitor. It was also a new PB for Blade, lowering her previous best by six seconds.
Chelsi Williams, George Jenkins (Fla.): For some, the outdoor season has only just begun, but for Williams and her fellow Floridians, they've already been at this for a while. At the FSU Relays, Williams stepped up to the line for her seventh 100mH race this spring, picking up the win in 13.28, a PB, and a new national lead. Williams also snagged wins in both the long and triple jump, notching new PBs of 20-3 and 41-7.25. Williams currently leads the state in all three events and also has the ninth-best time in the 400mH this season.
Macy Wingard, Denton-Braswell (Texas): At the Texas Relays, Wingard threw down a pair of big-time personal bests in the 1600m at the 2k Steeplechase. In the 1600m, Wingard finished runner-up in 4:46.54, a four-second improvement. Wingard picked up the win in the steeple, taking 11 seconds off of her season best. Wingard's winning time was 6:45.56, good enough for a seven-second margin of victory. The junior sits just under two seconds back of the all-time state record and is the 16th-fastest junior in high school history.
Jasmine Robinson, North Cobb (Ga.): The junior had herself a day at the Texas Relays over the weekend, finishing runner-up in the 100mH and breaking the tape in her 300mH season debut. In the shorter of the two races, Robinson ran a wind-legal. 13.63 in prelims before clocking a wind-aided 13.29 in the final, where she took second. In the 300mH, Robinson cruised to a 40.12, winning by over one and a half seconds. Robinson leads the state in both events and leads the nation in the 300mH.
Dasia Reed, Montverde Academy (Fla.): At the FSU Relays, the young superstar flexed her strength, winning both the 100m and 200m with a pair of personal bests. In the 100m, Reed ran a blistering 11.44, winning by exactly one-fifth of a second. In the 200m, Reed ran sub-24 for the second time this season, this time running 23.61, a huge PB. The sophomore won the event by four-tenths of a second and was the only girl to run quicker than 24.0.
