This past week, the nation's top collegiate athletes competed at the conference championships.

They were gearing up for the NCAA Championships, which takes place from June 5 to June 8 at the University of Oregon.

Below, we look at five true freshmen women who excelled at the conference meets.

The list only includes women who competed at the high school level in the U.S. and were part of the high school Class of 2023.


Kaylyn Brown, Mallard Creek (NC)

At the Southeastern Conference meet, Brown finished second in the 400m in a personal-best 49.47, which was just 0.15 seconds behind teammate Nickisha Pryce.

Pryce's time of 49.32 was No. 3 all-time for a collegiate runner, while Brown's time was the fourth-fastest ever for a collegian.
