Eric Heins joined the Indiana University staff last May as the head cross country and distance coach.

Heins was familiar with the school, having run there in 2000 while taking graduate classes. He also had an impressive coaching resume, including leading the Northern Arizona men's cross country team to its first NCAA title in 2016.

IU is still not in the same class as NAU.

Still, the Hoosiers are showing progress in the 10 months since Heins arrived on campus, particularly when it comes to recruiting.

Most recently, Indiana received a commitment from Dylon Nalley, a senior at Marion (IL) High School. IU's other Class of 2024 distance recruits include Anthony Provenzano of Carmel (IN) High School and Matthew Kim of Fishers (IN) High School.
