After the cross country season, Jack Meier had a change of heart.

The West Salem (OR) High School star distance runner had committed to Wake Forest in September. But the more Meier thought about what he desired in a college, the more he knew he didn't want to move so far away.

As such, Meier decided to de-commit from Wake Forest and consider his options on the West Coast. Earlier this month, he committed to the University of Oregon, a legendary running school and the alma mater of his father and several other relatives.

"My family in Oregon means a lot to me," Meier said. "I thought being closer to home would be a good idea for me ... (Oregon) was just a perfect fit."
