During the first weekend of November, Ty Steorts took an official visit to the University of Tennessee.
The timing worked out well for Steorts, a junior distance star at Hurricane (WV) High School who had won the West Virginia AAA cross country title the previous weekend.
Steorts had a break in his schedule and thought it would be a good time to see the school and meet with coaches who had reached out to him on June 15, the first day coaches could contact recruits who were entering their junior year.
Steorts enjoyed his trip to Tennessee so much that he committed to the school the same weekend he visited.
He made his commitment public this week when he announced it via Instagram.
"I really just felt like I fit right in and it was the place I wanted to go," Steorts said. "I was like, 'Alright, I'm just going to pull the trigger already.'"
