As a sophomore at Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI) High School in 2021, Rachel Forsyth emerged as one of the best young distance runners in the country.

Forsyth won the 2021 NXR Midwest Regional by more than 13 seconds. She then ran 2:06.30 in the 800m, 4:44.20 in the mile and 10:02.12 in the 3,200m during the indoor season. Those were the U.S. No. 4, No. 7 and No. 3 times, respectively.

She was firmly on the radar of college programs.

But she missed the outdoor season and ran sparingly during her junior cross country and indoor seasons, due to an illness that hospitalized her and injuries.

Forsyth was finally able to fully train again during the outdoor season this spring, more than a year after she showed such promise.
