Early in his coaching career, when he was a graduate assistant at Ball State University, Ed Beathea made it a habit to attend events and meets and network with other coaches.
He wanted to learn and see how he could make it in a competitive profession.
Beathea worked summer camps at Indiana University under legendary Hoosiers head coach Sam Bell. He also got to know the IU staff while volunteering at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Indianapolis.
Now, roughly 30 years later, Beathea's path has come full circle.
Beathea is the first-year head coach at Indiana and looking to help the Hoosiers adapt to a competitive Big Ten Conference that will get even better next year with the additions of Washington, Oregon, USC and UCLA.
