On Wednesday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the preseason top 25 NCAA Division I men's cross country rankings.

It was of little surprise. The Northern Arizona men were picked first in the poll.

The Lumberjacks have won the past six out of seven NCAA titles -- including the last three straight and return stars such as Nico Young and Drew Bosley, who were second and third at last year's NCAA meet.

The other elite programs are filled with veterans, making it tough for freshmen to crack the top seven. At last year's NCAA Championships, only 10 true freshmen from the U.S. competed, including one (Notre Dame's Izaiah Steury) who finished in the top 120.

Steury is now at Oregon.
