Sha'Carri Richardson, a 2018 graduate of Dallas Carter High School, left no doubt in the women's 100m at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships on Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Richardson ran 10.82 seconds to win the 100m, her arms outstretched as she broke the finishing tape.

Brittany Brown ran 10.90 for second, Tamari Davis was third in 10.99.

The three will make up the U.S. team for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

From the opening round yesterday, Richardson separated herself from her competitors. Her first round on Thursday of 10.71 was a personal best. In Friday's semifinals, she cruised to a 10.75 and was well clear of the rest of the field.

In the final, Richardson quickly recovered after finding herself in a deficit off the line. By midway, she had moved even with the field and the outcome was no longer in doubt.

Next up, Richardson is entered in the women's 200m with the opening round heats taking place on Saturday.

In the men's 100m, Cravont Charleston upset the field to take the U.S. title.

Charleston ran 9.95 to edge Christian Coleman, who ran 9.96.

Noah Lyles came on strong in the second half of the race and finished third in 10.00.

It will be the first 100m national team for Lyles, who is pursuing a 100m/200m double at the World Championships.

Brandon Carnes took fourth and JT Smith was fifth. Trayvon Bromell, last year's bronze medalist at the World Championships, placed sixth.
