For as long as she can remember, Emily Bush has been a fan of Providence College. Her parents, Rick and Dana, ran at the school in the mid- to late-1990s. Her brother, Ryan, is a freshman on the Friars' track and cross country teams.
Even before Ryan enrolled last fall, the family would visit the campus, follow the running program and root for the college's popular men's basketball team.
Still, despite the family bond, Emily thought she wanted to carve her own path and choose another college.
But after taking an official visit last month, the Saratoga Springs (NY) junior committed to Providence.
"As I got older and I became better at running, I started getting the idea of doing my own thing just because when people associate me, it's usually with my parents and my brother," Bush said.
