For two years, CJ Singleton and Drew Griffith were teammates on the Butler (PA) High School cross country and track teams. Griffith looked up to Singleton, who is two years older than him, and hoped he could some day match his accomplishments.
This season, he's done that.
Griffith has emerged as one of the top junior distance runners in the U.S. and has, in the process, broken Singleton's records. But starting in the fall of 2024, they will once again be running together.
Griffith committed last week to attend Notre Dame, where Singleton is a freshman.
"(Singleton) really likes it out there," Griffith said. "He wasn't really trying to push me anywhere. He definitely just wanted the best for me."
