During Camryn Cole's first two years as a member of Webster Schroeder's (NY) track team, she focused exclusively on the hurdles, an event she had excelled at since middle school.
But before last season, Cole's coaches asked her to try the long jump and high jump, too. They had a feeling she would excel there.
Although Cole had never considered jumping and balked at first, she has been better than expected. In fact, she has been so good that she recently accepted a full-ride scholarship to compete at Northeastern University in Boston, where she will primarily be a high jumper and pentathlete.
What made the coaches suggest the long jump and high jump?
