The Scoop: One Final Big Week of Action In January

Montverde Academy Pockets Two Under 6.7 In The 60m

Boys 60m: Results

You just can't make this up.

Montverde Academy, the nation's top sprint program in 2023, saw four athletes run the 60m on Saturday at the Legends of Alachua County meet. One went under 6.6, another posted under 6.7 and two more went under 6.9.

That's simply unheard of and, if record-keeping existed for this type of thing, that surely would have shattered some records.

Issam Asinga, the quickly-developing superstar -- also a transplant from Missouri -- tied for the second-fastest 60m performance of all-time in 6.59 seconds. He's now just the third high school athlete to run under 6.60 all-time.

Micah Larry, the nation's top long jumper, ran 6.69. That performance was No. 31 all-time in the books.

And then there was Zyaire Nuriddin (6.84), the nation's top quarter-miler, and Jayvian Greene, a promising junior, who went 6.84 and 6.88.

It's safe to say: Never before in the history of indoor high school track and field have four teammates, in the same race, all gone under 6.9. It was done on Sunday.
